Art Therapy
Our therapeutic mission is rooted in creative wellness with our therapeutic arts staff who are trained and licensed in both clinical counseling and art therapy. Using mindful approaches from Adlerian psychology of individual encouragement and community well being, we tailor our therapeutic art sessions to the needs of the individual. We are client centered and rooted in a strength based, trauma-informed, process-oriented, humanistic lens; one that focuses on the needs of the whole individual. Whether it is a young person in need of coping skills and anger management techniques, someone looking for a creative and restorative emotional outlet or family members looking for healthy communication skills, we offer a warm, welcoming and open environment to guide individuals and families in processing experiences and exploring the self in a creatively therapeutic way.
Art making is an emotional outlet; a place to process and explore experiences, thoughts, ideas, relationships and feelings. It has the potential to act as a conduit for self esteem, trauma processing, communication skills, self acceptance, personal growth, anger management and healthy perspectives, among others. We see each individual as a unique and whole person capable of holistic creation.
If you think our Art Therapy services may be a good fit for you or your family or you would like some more information please reach out to our Art Therapist, Emma Zbiral-Teller at arttherapy@openstudioproject.org.
